One injured in firing by Gangsters inside Ropar government college campus

ROPAR: One persons was injured in firing by group of five gangsters who gate crashed into the in the permises of local Government college today afternoon and fired started firing.

The incident sent shock waves in the college campus and the city. The eyewitnesses said that five youths on motot cycles entered the college permises and started firing on two youths who had reportedly came to seek admission in the college. One Chanpreet Singh s/o Balbir Singh of village Bhaowal under PS Nurpurbedi who was the target injured in the firing while his friend escaped unhurt.

Chanpreet Singh who has received bullet injury in the right has been admitted in the civil hospital here.

The attack is suspected to be case of gang war as the name of injured Chanpreet had figured in murder of a youth on June 2 at Bunga Sahib bus stand in this district. Chanpreet Singh was however given a clean chit in the case by police after investigation.

According to police five shots were fired. The miscreants carried two pistols and they also followed the Chanpreet Singh who ran for shelter upto gate of the college. The SSP Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu said that Police has registered the case and two of the attackers have been identified as Neeraj and Preeti. He said that Police was investigating the case.

The police found the CCTV cameras installed in the college out of order, otherwise gangsters would have been identified.
