NANGAL: A principal cum owner of a recognised private school in village Nangran near Nangal and two of his aides have been arrested by Nangal Police following disclosure of several incidents of sexual assault on girl students over the past 15 years.
The accused have been identified as Amritpal Dhiman, principal of the National Public School, his friend Shiv Kumar and another aide Naresh Kumar. The matter remained under wraps for years and the accused assaulted girls with impunity. The incident came to light when one of the friends of the principal, also an accused, accidently leaked the photographs and videos.
A local leader of Bhim Army Ashwani Kumar approached the police last month with some leaked photographs and a FIR was registered. Police said that they investigated the allegations made by the complainant and found substantial evidence against the principal. The accused also remained Sarpanch of his village.
Ashwani Kumar in his complaint on February 22, 2022 alleged that the accused was close to local MLA and Vidhan Sabha speaker Rana KP Singh who gave liberal grants to the school. The allegations were however denied by Rana KP Singh. He said that many political leaders might also be involved in the sex racket.
Nangal Police has registered a case under sections 376(2)(D)(i) of IPC and POSCO act besides IT act.
Viveksheel Soni SSP Ropar said that victim girls kept silence for years due to social stigma but now they have revealed the acts of the principal. The accused used to call girls to his home for tuition and sexually assaulting them. He said that a journalist from Nangal is also involved and he took Rs.3.50 lakh to hush up the matter. The journalist will be arrested soon.
