CBI arrests CMD two EDs of EPIL and four others in an alleged bribery of Rs. 10 lakh

NEW DELHI : The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a CMD, EPIL, Delhi; Executive Director, Contracts Division, EPIL, Delhi; Executive Director, EPIL, Mumbai Region and 4 others in an alleged bribery of Rs. 10 lakh.
This was disclosed by R.K.Gaur an official spokesperson of the CBI today.He said a case was registered Under Section 120-B of IPC and section 7, 12 & 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 against CMD, EPIL, Lodhi Road, New Delhi; Executive Director, Contracts Division, EPIL, Delhi ; Executive Director, EPIL, Mumbai Region; a representative of Raipur-based private firm & said Raipur-based |Private firm through its partner and other unknown public servants & private persons on the allegations that the said public servants demanded illegal gratification from the said private firm (Builders of Raipur) for favouring the company in the award of the contract for construction of MegaUrban Educational Complex at Pallur Hills, Kain is, Berhampur, District Ganjam, (Odisha).
It was further alleged that the CMD in conspiracy with others, deputed his staff to collect Rs. 10 lakhs as a part payment of the total agreed amount of gratification from one hawala operator based at Chandni Chowk, Delhi. The staff was intercepted by CBI while allegedly receiving the said bribe.
Searches were conducted today at 8 locations in Delhi, Mumbai, and Raipur.
Further investigation is continuing.
