CBI arrests an Enforcement Officer of RPFO in bribery case

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund organization, Regional Office, Kolkata for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from the Complainant.

A case was registered against the accused on a complaint alleging that the Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Organization, Regional Office, Kolkata had demanded Rs. One lakh as bribe since the complainant was not complying with provisions of Provident Fund Act. It was further alleged that accused scaled down his demand of bribe to Rs. 20,000/- as the complainant expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount and directed the complainant to pay him the said gratification. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused

The arrested accused is being produced today before the Designated Court.
