BSF seizes 20 kg contraband heroin worth 100 crores from Gurdaspur sector

Gurdaspur/Jalandhar : Border Security Force troops successfully seized 19 Packets (weight approx. 19.875 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post (BOP) Adhian, Ex-170 Bn BSF, Sector Gurdaspur. Seizyre valuing Rs. 100 Crores in international work.
(MOREPIC1BSF Spokesman from Punjab Frontier at Jalandhar, said, keeping in view the vulnerability of Border, setting of Fog / Smog and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements on border, Sh Mukul Goel, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti - National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan.
BSF spokesman said, accordingly, DIG Sector BSF Gurdaspur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of AntiNational Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements.
Spokesman said, on Sunday at about 0740 hrs, BSF troops on duty noticed some suspicious movement ahead of Border Security Fence in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Adhian, Ex- 170 Bn BSF, Sector Gurdaspur. Sensing the situation, alert BSF troops immediately took position and challenged the Pak smugglers. On being challenged, Pak smugglers ran away taking advantage of heavy fog and undulating ground. Immediately, a special search operation was launched, during which BSF troops recovered 19 packet (weight approx. 19.875 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin filled in the 8.6 feet long plastic pipe near BS fence.
The enhanced vigil of BSF has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements to smuggle contraband items into India.
