38th students legal literacy club opens

CHANDIGARH: Under legal literacy mission and dynamic leadership of Mr Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court who is also executive chairman, State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Chandigarh inaugurated its 38th students legal literacy club in government model high school, Khudda Jassu here on Friday.

The member secretary, SLSA, Mr Mahavir Singh said that objective of these clubs was to create awareness among the people with the help of the students. During the function, the participants were also told about the role and functions of the Legal Literacy Clubs. The students were also aware about the menace of drug abuse which was rampant among the young, said Mr Singh.

Mrs Harjeet Kaur, Principal of the school delivered the welcome address and Mr Manoj Kumar, Club In Charge proposed the vote of thanks and assured that they would regularly organize awareness programmes on relevant topics and would upgrade the Legal Literacy Club to Legal Services Clinic in the near future, revealed Mr Singh.
