UT industry department holds valedictory function for small start ups

CHANDIGARH: Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, Director of Industries, UT Chandigarh distributed certificates to 90 participants at the valedictory function of Entrepreneurship Development Programme sponsored by her Department and organised by Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh.

The program has been designed to build awareness amongst the youth about alternative options and entrepreneurial opportunities for their career & to motivate them to setup their micro and small enterprises. The participants were also familiarized with the Basic requirement for setting up their own ventures and facilities being provided by government through various schemes. Director of Industries, in her address emphasized the need to implement the Govt. Scheme for the promotion of micro enterprises in its true spirit and suggested the participants to avail the facility being provided by Govt. Under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) (Subsidy is available from 25 to 35%), START UP India and STAND UP India.

Dr. B.P Yadav, Principal, PGGC-46, Chandigarh while motivating the students to opt for self employment conveyed his thanks to Department of Industries and RCED for conducting such a informative programme for their students. He also requested the Director of Industries to sponsor such programmes on regular basis.

Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, RCED Chandigarh expressed his gratitude to the Department of Industries for sponsoring EDPs for the students of various colleges in Chandigarh. He also conveyed his thanks to the experts who delivered talks on various aspects of setting up and managing the enterprise. Experts who spoke on the occasion were Mr. Gursharan Singh, Motivational Speaker, Mr. P.N Khanna, LDM, PNB, Mr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Director, KVIC, Ms. Jyoti, AGM, SIDBI, Dr. Poonam Thakur, Registrar, NIIFT, Mr. Satish Sudhir, Dy. Director, PCRA.

The deputy director, PCRA stated that RCED has trained more than 18,000 youth in their Entrepreneurship Development and above 15,000 in Skill Development Programmes.
Vote of thanks was conveyed by Dr. Surinder Kaur, College Dean, Vice Principal,
Senior faculty members of the college and programme coordinator RCED, Ms.
Jaspreet Kaur were also present at the valedictory function.
