CHANDIGARH
: Giving relief to Colonel Manvir Bains and disposing of the matter, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday quashed the FIR against him in a road rage case in which Sector 37 resident Praveen Yadav had died. The court stated that from medical evidence, no case of murder and culpable homicide was made against Col Bains. It was also submitted in the HC that the matter was settled between both the parties in Rs 18 lakh.

Col Bains, who was facing murder charges alternatively with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, had been out on bail. The Chandigarh district courts had framed these charges against him, which were later stayed by the HC.

In the last hearing of the case on September 26, it was stated that both the parties have reached a compromise and the HC had directed the petitioner to produce the demand draft by the next hearing.
