Modernized Chandgiram Wrestling Hall inaugurated

NEW DELHI: The Grand opening of renovated Chandgiram Wrestling Hall was marked with the presence of President Wrestling federation of India and MP Shri Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, double Olympic medalist Padmashri Sushil Kumar, PRO Wrestling League founder and Managing Director ITV Media Network Mr Kartikeya Sharma, three generations of Padmashree Chandgiram Ji’s family, students of Chandgi Ram Ji and hundreds of young and female wrestler who do daily practice at Chandgiram Akhada.

The new wrestling hall was inaugurated on the death anniversary of Chandgiram ji after performance of Havan from 8 am in the morning.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that Chandgiram ji had made valuable contribution towards developing women wrestling in India. He began women wrestling in 90’s and trained many women for competitions.

Paying tributes to Chandigarm Sushil Kumar expressed his happiness for the renovated air conditioned wrestling hall. He said that he has seen such halls in Olympic Training Centers Colarado USA and Bulgaria. "I am happy that Akhadas in India are also being modernized."
Kartikeya Sharma said that wrestlers namely Sushil Kumar and Jagdish Kaliraman are encouraging young generation towards wrestling by managing akhadas giving wrestling training.

Son of Chandgiram, Bharat Kesari Jagdish Kaliraman addressing the press conference on the occasion said that the akhada has been made air conditioned, with modern facilities such as wrestling mat, battle rope training, T.R.X Practice, wrestling training through video / projector, Gym and weight training. There is also air-conditioned hostel for women and men wrestlers. Diet is managed under the supervision of the dietician to give them balanced diet. Russian trainer Devis will give strength training in the akhada.

President of Chandgiram Sports Welfare Charitable Trust Shri R.P. Singh, Arjun Awardee Kripa Shankar Bishnoi, Bhupendra Solanki (Haryana Hammers), Moolchand Sehrawat (Mumbai Maharathi), Mahaging Director of A.K. Sons Group Bhupendra Kumar, Lekhram Pahlwan, Sahil Saraf and Satish Khatri gave contribution for renovation of AC Wrestling Hall.

Jagroop Singh Rathi, Shokender Tomar, Prashant Rohatgi (Babboo Khalifa), Coach of Olympic Medalist Sakshi Malik Iswar Dahiya, Councilor Chandni Chowk Ravi Kaptan, Councilor Civil Lines Sardar Avtar Singh, Social Worker Suman Gupta, Mahila Jat Sabha President Naveen Chaudhary and Shashakt Nari Shakti President Deepa Antil, were also present on the occasion. An exhibition on Master Chandgiram Ji’s life was also organised.
