Job cards given to 100 persons on second legal services camp

CHANDIGARH: Second legal services camp  has attracted a large number of people and ended with a positive note. In the camp, job cards were distributed to 100 persons on the spot through Labour department and more than 115 applications were also received for Registration for job cards for the construction workers which were registered for further processing.

Similarly, more than 367 persons visited Aadhaar Cards counter for corrections etc. Similarly, more than 50 persons got enrolled for voter identity cards.  More than 300  persons were also registered for various Social Welfare Schemes like Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, Senior Citizen Cards etc.  

More than 150 persons visited the PNB and SBI Counters for opening of bank accounts etc. BSNL, Vodafone, Airtel also provided service on the spot for linking the subscribers with Aadhaar numbers. Approximately 1760 persons participated in camp and other similar camps would follow in the coming months. For the convenience of disabled persons all the stalls were imprinted with Braille Script and disabled persons were commuted on Wheel Chair etc. More than 50 volunteers were specifically deputed to help the disabled persons.

Under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority, New Delhi, the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Chandigarh organized its second Legal Services Camp at Government Model Senior Secondary School,  Dhanas on Sunday.  Mr. Justice Surya kant, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, SLSA was the Chief Guest.

During the camp he interacted with various beneficiaries and also distributed the job cards which were prepared as part of the camp. He also visited the health camp and all the stalls of the departments. He stress on the need to aware the public about various governmental schemes initiated for their welfare.

Aims at creating awareness about the welfare schemes for the disabled and senior citizens it has aware their entitlements and procedural aspects and also connected them to various welfare schemes meant for them through various departments and Government agencies.

The Election Department, UIDAI (Aadhaar), Social Welfare Department, Labour Department, Education Department, Health Department,  SBI and PNB Banks, participated in the camp and informed the general public about various government schemes initiated by these respective departments.  On the spot registration and facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.

A free health camp was also organized with the help of doctors specialized in Ortho, ENT and Dental health care.  A free eye-checkup camp was also organized by the Mirchias Laser Clinic, Chandigarh as part of corporate social responsibility.   About 410 patients were medically checked in the camp.   

Dr VJS Vohra, Nevedac Prosthetics Society, Rotary Club, Department of Psychiatry  Dr Gurjit Kaur, Down Syndromes Society, Representatives of Sarthak , Open Eyes , Disha Society, KFC, Gilard have also graced the camp with their presence. They spoke at length about the various types of help being provided at their level and shared their experience

Amarinder Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh and  Mr. V.K. Kapoor, IPS (Retd.), Chief Coordinator, NALSA Schemes, were present in the event and informed the participants about the activities of their respective departments.
