CBI arrests Chandigarh Police Sub Inspector red handed

CHANDIGARH: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Sub-Inspector (SI), posted at Police Station, Sector-31, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. two lakh from the complainant.
This was stated by RK.Gaur, Spokesperson of the CBI.He said CBI had registered a case Under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the Sub-Inspector Mohan Singh, posted at Police Station, Sector 31, Chandigarh on the allegations that the Sub-inspector was demanding a bribe of Rs.9 lakh from the complainant (a property dealer of Chandigarh).
Gaur said that the complainant had alleged that a case dated 17.09.2017 was registered at Police Station, Sector 31, Chandigarh against three of his employees & six others and a police team visited his business premises to nab his employees and also harassed the complainant.
 It was further alleged that the Sub-Inspector had demanded Rs.9 lakh from the complainant for not harassing him and for favoring his employees during the investigation and also informed the complainant that Rs. One lakh of the said bribe was meant for himself and remaining amount i.e. Rs.8 lakh was meant for the SHO.

CBI sleuths laid a trap and caught the Sub Inspector red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. Two lakh. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused.

The arrested accused will be produced in the Designated Court.
