Nagal, seeded Gunneswaran and Myneni lose in China

CHANDIGARH: Qualifier Sumit Nagal gave a tough fight to third seeded Ramkumar Ramanathan in an all-Indians  singles first round match in the $ 75,000 Shenzhen International Challenger in China today.
In two-hour keenly contested encounter Ramkumar just managed to survive as he pipped his rival in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2). Ramkumar Ramanathan relied on his service as he fired seven aces and committed two double faults. Sumit committed double faults. Ramanathan saved six out of eight break points while Nagal could save one out of three break points. Ramanathan won two out of three break points while Nagal saved two out of eight double faults.
Indian qualifier Sasi Kumar Mukund advanced to second round at the expense of wild card entrant Yibing Wu of China in straight sets 7-6 (4), 6-2 in one hour and 20 minuts.
Fourth seed Indian Prajnesh Gunneswaran lost to Alegandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and eight minutes while Indian qualifier Saketh Myneni retired after losing the first set at 0-6 against Johan Tatlo of France in first round.
Arjun Kadhe of India, partnering Sanchai Ratiwatana of Thailand ousted Mihail Elgin of Russia and Yaraslav Shyla of Belarus in doubles pre-quarter-final in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in 58 minutes.
