Tech Festival `Urja-2018' organized at KCET

AMRITSAR: Annual Tech-festical `Urja-2018' was today organised at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) in which more than 600 students from various colleges from this region participated. The variety of general technical events including Quiz, Extempore, Panel Discussion, Innovation Presentation, Rangoli and branch specific events like Bridge Making, Rain Water Harvesting, Confloat, Best out of Waste Botanica Fest, Code Test, E-Poster, Brain Buster Tap the Key, Electronic Treasure hunt, Color Coding, PCB designing and Fix Faulty Circuits Sketch Mechanica, Clay Car Modelling, Assembelate and Cadomania were the star attraction at the festival, said Dr, Manju Bala.

Apart from this, the innovative models with latest technologies were also displayed by the students of various colleges. The start of the event was marked by Shabad recitation and by the students of the college and the chife guest at the occasion Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honorary Secretary, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) in his speech highlighted the importance of technical education and lauded the enviable efforts of faculty and students for this successful event. Students of the college then mesmerised the audience with their solo dance and folk dance performances.

The prizes were distributed to the winner teams which included B.Sc. Agriculture of Khalsa College of Management and Technology which won various events. The Best Project prize was bagged by the students of Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology who presented their innovative idea based upon Drip Irrigation. A project on Mulching with Different Irrigation Systems which was presented by students of Global institutes bagged the second position under Best Project Category. As many as 44 students were given trophies and pen drives for being winners in different events. Students of Guru Nanak Dev University bagged different positions in Panel Discussion and Innovation Presentation and extempore while students of Global Institutes bagged positions in Quiz.

Students of Electronics and Communication Department form Mai Bhago Govt. Polytechnic College for Girls bagged second position in color coding . Dr. Gurdial Singh (Principal, Khalsa college of Management and Technology), Dr. Mohinder Sangita (Dean Academics), Dr. Harkaran Singh (Registrar), Er. R S Mahal (Head, Mechanical Engineering Department), Er. Kirandeep Singh (Head, Computer Science and Engineering), Er. Jaspreet Singh (Head, Electronics and Communication Engineering), Er. Sahil Verma (Head, Civil Engineering Department), Er. Gurcharan Singh (Deputy Dean Student Welfare) and other faculty members were present. A car with retro look which was displayed by Er. B. M. Singh, retired senior Civil Engineer from railways. He interacted with the students and faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department and told them about his e-Vintage car. He told that this future technology car is fit to meet the requirements of fuel shortage as it runs on battery and is cheap and best mode of transportation to deal with traffic with squeezing parking areas.
