August 01, 2018 03:47 PM

JEE main or Joint Entrance Examination main is an engineering entrance examination on the basis of whose result the colleges like IITs, NIT, etc. gives students admission. This exam is must for all the science students. JEE Main used to be conducted by CBSE but from 2019 it will be conducted by NTA or National Testing Agency.

Changes made by NTA in JEE Main

NTA has made some changes in JEE Main after it took over the exam from CBSE. They are listed below.

The exam will be held twice a year: One of the most important change is that the JEE main exam will held twice a year from now on. The 2019 exam will be held on January (within 6th to 20th January) and April (within 7th to 21st April). For the January exam, the application forms will be available from 1st to 30th September and for the April exam, the application forms will be available from 2nd week of February.

The mode of the exam is online:JEE main 2019 aspiring candidates will give the exam online. There is no offline based JEE exam anymore and candidates no longer have the choice between online and offline mode of examination.

Can appear for the exam twice a year: There is no rule saying that the candidates cannot give JEE Main both times i.e., in January and April. The candidates will be given admission based on the higher score obtained from both the examination. So, for a better chance candidates, if willing, can give JEE main twice.

Different question papers: The question paper may vary from candidate to candidate. It is likely that more than one set of question papers will be made so that the students around you will get different set of question papers than you.

Number of centres will be increased: NTA made sure that the number of centres for the exam will be increased. More centres means more evenly divided candidates.

The things that remained same are as follows

Syllabus and pattern

Many candidates are worried that if the syllabus and exam pattern has been changed by NTA. The answer is no. The syllabus remains what it was before and as for the exam pattern, other than giving the exam online nothing has changed. So candidates stop worrying about the syllabus and exam pattern and prepare for the exam like you were doing till the announcement is made public.

Level of difficulty

Like every other JEE main exams that have taken place till today, 2019 JEE main’s level of difficulty will remain same. Other than making the exam online, no other changes have been made about the question paper so the level of difficulty has not been changed.

Keep on preparing as you were doing before for the exam. However, do keep in mind that you can only give JEE main 3 times. You can give the exam in January as well as April to increase your chances and considering the fact that the colleges will check the score where you have scored highest in the two exam, it is suggested that give the exam twice especially for the new students.
