New technical courses at RBU a big hit with students

MOHALI: The Rayat Bahra University has seen more rush in admissions to the technical courses including B Sc Agriculture, Diploma in Agriculture, Law courses including the integrated law programme as admissions to the various courses are in progress.

Disclosing the new trend in favour of technical and new innovative courses, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University and Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group, said that the Rayat Bahra University continuing its endeavour to introduce new programmes for the students had started MSc in Pharmacovigilance for the first time in India with Pharma Industry collaboration. PG Diploma in Disaster Management in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society and BSc (Physician Assistant) and other unique Allied Medical Sciences programmes from this session.

He said that besides these new courses a three-year graduate degree in film making from this session in addition to one-year Diploma in Direction, Video Editing, Cinematography and Story Writing has been started. The programme is being offered by the Rayat Bahra University School of Media Studies which also offers programmes like Bachelors and Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Bahra said that with a view to providing hands on training to agriculture students an Agricultural Experimental Field, New Research Labs and The biological Society have been set up at the Rayat Bahra University School of Sciences for the Agriculture and Life Sciences Department. He said that comparative study between organic farming and modern farming was being done in the experimental field that would make the students aware of the benefits of adopting organic farming.

The Group Chairman said the Rayat Bahra as the students of the RBU were equipped with industry relevant skills, there had been an upswing in placements and with more than 375 companies visiting different institutions of the Group. These include 183 in engineering and technology, 95 in management and computers, 35 in hotel management, 46 in pharmaceutical science and health sciences, and 20 in law and education. Students have been offered very attractive and lucrative pay packages.

Bahra said that the University had introduced a number of new programmes in collaboration with top multinational companies to increase the employment potential of the students. Among the new age programs in B Tech the courses offered include B Tech in Android Development in collaboration with Google, IoT and Java in collaboration with Oracle, Database and Analytics in collaboration with IBM and B Tech in Design and Development in collaboration with Siemens.
