National meet on engg research at Rayat Bahra Varsity

MOHALI: Consistent with the important role of academic engineering research in the advancement and diffusion of the engineering knowledge base and the training of engineers, substantial increases are needed in the level of support for academic engineering research and associated aspects of engineering education.

This was stated by Dr Surinder Singh, Director of the Semi Conductor Laboratory, Mohali, who was speaking as Chief Guest at the 6th National Conference on Engineering Research & Applications (ERA 2019) here today. The conference was organised by the University School of Engineering and Technology at the Rayat Bahra University here today.

Dr Praveen Kumar Khosla, Executive Director of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing in Mohali, was the guest of honour at the conference. He expressed optimism that this conference would be a landmark for a gamut of activities which will be marking their presence across the boundaries of corporate and the academic world.

Dr Khosla is amongst country’s highly respected scientists with over 30 years of experience in DRDO. He has been instrumental in numerous defense and strategic projects centered around the development of electronics and instrumentation systems for aerospace and missile systems.

Vikas Issar, Director, Acclivous Technologies Private Limited, and Dr Rajesh Goyal, Dean and Professor, National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), delivered the key note address. The NICMAR has been constituted as a nonprofit organization with the objective of engaging in activities for the promotion of education, training, and research

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI), who presided over the function, said that spurred on by the success of the previous national, international conferences held by the USET this national conference was organised with a view that this will create a forum where the best of academics and industry could exchange and share their experiences and innovative practices on various cross-functional areas.

Dr Daljit Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, welcomed the delegates from all over the country and expressed hope that they would benefit greatly from the deliberations at the national conference.

Dr Ajay Goel, Dean, university school of engineering and technology of the Rayat Bahra University, proposed a vote of thanks.
