Mega job fest at Rayat Bahra a big hit with students

ROPAR: Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Technical Education Minister, here today announced that books of technical subjects for students of industrial training institutes and polytechnics would be made available from the coming academic session. This would be in addition to books in English in these subjects which were already available.

The 2nd State Level Mega Job Fest organized under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar mission of the Punjab government at the Rayat Bahra Ropar Campus here today proved to be a big hit with the students. A large number of students turned up at the job fest. Channi, who presided over the Mega Job Fest, was welcomed by Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions and Dr Suresh Seth, Campus Director.

He said that the initiative of providing books in Punjabi was being taken in view of the hardships being faced by students of Punjab studying in it ITIs and polytechnics since they were not too good at English and found it hard to comprehend these. He said that it had been decided that in the next phase books for other technical subjects for other classes would also be made available.

Channi appealed to the youth of Punjab to get trained in different skills as there were lots of job opportunities for skilled people but the companies were not getting skilled persons as per their requirements. He said that the Punjab government was working on the formula to fill the academic and training gap to make the youth skilled as per requirements of the present and the future needs of the industry.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, lauded the initiative of the Punjab government for taking a lead and starting these Job Fairs to facilitate the unemployed youth get jobs. He said there was immense talent available in Punjab and participation of students in large numbers from across Punjab is indication of that.

Dr Suresh Seth said that the participation of a large number of companies from across the country showed that there were jobs aplenty available for skilled youth.

Sandeep Kaura, Joint Managing Director of the Rayat Bahra Group, said such job fairs at the State-level would add another feather in the cap of Punjab by helping the youth. Dr Ajay Goyal, Joint Campus Director, was also present on the occasion.
