Legal luminaries attend natl meet on Law at Rayat Bahra University

MOHALI: Top legal luminaries, academicians, researchers and students here today deliberated on on socially relevant legal issues being faced by the Indian society today at a national conference on `Law and Social Transformation in India’ held at the Rayat University School of Law.
The Chief Guest at the inaugural session was Justice KC Puri, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, Claims Commissioner, Haryana.
Six technical sessions on Law and Social Change, Community and Law, Child Rights and Law and Women Rights and Law apart from vernacular/Punjabi session were held wherein more than 100 papers were presented and deliberated upon by legal luminaries, academicians, teachers, lawyers, researchers and students from 40 reputed educational institutes from across the length and breadth of the country.
The valedictory session was presided over by Justice Rajiv Bhalla, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Chairperson of the Punjab State Education Tribunal and Dean, Faculty of Law, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman, of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI) and Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, Prof (Dr) Raj Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, and Prof (Dr) MS Bains, Dean, University School of Law, were present on the occasion.
Eminent academicians namely Prof (Dr) Balram Gupta, Prof (Dr) Gurpal Singh, Prof (Dr) Shalini Marwaha, Prof (Dr) Anju Suri, Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Kumar, Prof (Dr) Rajinder Kaur, Prof (Dr) Yograj Angrish presided over the technical sessions.
Dr Raj Singh lauded the efforts of Dr Sonia Grewal Mahal, Vice-Principal, University School of Law, RBU; Chief Coordinator, of the National Conference along with others faculty conveners Dr Kirat Grewal, Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Dr Jasdeep Kaur in organizing the national conference.
Organizational skills of the student coordinators including Nitika, Kajal, Himanshi, Gurnoor, Abhishek, Ashmeet were appreciated at the conference
