Khalsa College Institutions Celebrate Women's Day

AMRITSAR: On the occasion of International Women's Day, there were various events of celebrations and deliberations organised at Khalsa College of Education, Khalsa College for Women, Khalsa College of Nursing andother institions being run under Khalsa College Governing Council. There was a Poster Exhibition organized by the Khalsa College of Nursing students outside Khalsa College where the theme of 'Press for Progress' given by United Nations- Women was emphasized.

Khalsa College of Education Principal, Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon said that the people of the society need to change their thinking towards women. He highlighted the need for women to stand up for their rights strongly as loyalists are only able to make place for themselves and create their identities in the society.

On this occasion, the students of Khalsa College of Nursing displayed an exhibition of posters prepared in various languages effectively under the leadership of Principal, Neelam Hans and faculty member Yashpreet Kaur and Sukhjinder Kaur. Carried in the hands of every girl, each poster depicted the message given by United Nations-Women that women should be independent for their progress. The posters effectively depicted women's rights in every sphere of life , and protested day to day crimes committed against women. On this occasion, Madam Monika Dogra, Madam Manu Sharma, Madam Sarabjot Kaur and Madam Suguna S. Bapu from Nursing College actively participated and gave information about the rights of every girl student.

At Khalsa College of Education, Manjot Dhillon, Director and Founder Mount Littera Zee School and Dr. Puneet Dhillon HOD, Journalism and Mass Communication, Khalsa College were invited as chief guests. In her speech, Dr. Dhillon said that in order to empower women in a country like India, the government should give women the right to make policies and empower them with human rights. Manjot Dhillon, on the other hand mentioned that women are the creators of the society and they should not forget their identity. She acknowledged the efforts of men in the changing times who are working hard towards women empowerment.
