JEE Main 2019 January Session Over; Know the Details of JEE Main Counselling Procedure

JEE Main counselling for all the qualified and eligible students will be conducted byJoSAA. The registration for the same will be held in an online mode. The counselling and seat allotment process will commence from the second week of June. Those who have successfully registered for the exam and cleared it with minimum cut off will only be eligible to participate in JEE Main Counselling.

Student’s admission to the Engineering and Architecture programs will be done on the basis of their performance in JEE Main 2019. Top-ranked colleges like IITs, NITs, and other institutes will consider the examination score for providing admissions. After the declaration of the JEE Main 2019 result, the counselling process will be started.

Let’s have a look at the various steps of counselling process.

JEE Main Counselling Procedure

The counselling process will be divided into few steps which are discussed below.

Step 1: Registration

  • Open the official website of JoSAA.
  • Enter JEE Main 2019 roll number and password to log in
  • Enter all the registration details very carefully.
  • Click on the “Confirm Registration” button.

Step 2: Choice Filling and Locking

  • No fee is required for choice filling and locking.
  • Lock the choices by login into the website.
  • After choice filling, don’t forget to lock them.
  • If students forget to lock their choices, then last saved choices will be saved automatically.

Step 3: Provisional Seat Allotment

  • Seats will be allocated to students as per the filled choices.
  • Take the printout of “Provisional Seat Allocation Letter” and e-challan.
  • During seat acceptance, choose freeze, slide or float for subsequent rounds.

Step 4: Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment

  • For reserved category candidates, seat acceptance will be INR 20, 000 and for general category candidates, a fee of seat acceptance is INR 45, 000.
  • Pay the application fee via e-challan & SBI net banking
  • Students are advised to take the printout of e-challan for future use

Step 5: Reporting at the Allotted College

  • After seat acceptance, students have to appear at the reporting centre for verification.
  • Students have to bring the required documents at the centre.
  • The seat will be confirmed once the document verification is done.
  • In the case, if a student fails to report to the allotted centre their seat will be rejected

Once the counselling is done and seats are allocated, the applicants will have to report their allotted institute for document verification and fee payment.

Documents Required for Verification

At the reporting centre, students must bring the set of original documents and a set of attested photocopies. Once the verification is done, the original documents will be returned to candidates. The required documents are mentioned below:

  • Three passport size photographs (similar at the time of registration)
  • Provisional seat allotment letter
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  • Photo Identity card
  • JEE Main 2019 admit card
  • JEE Main 2019 scorecard
  • Date of birth proof
  • 12th class mark sheet
  • Medical certificate
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable)
  • Registration and Filled Choices for Seat Allotment
