Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organized Annual Art Exhibition

JALANDHAR : Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi organized Annual Art Exhibition at Stya Paul Art Gallery , Virsa Vihar . Diwan Manna, President, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi and Dr. Sucharita, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar inaugurated this three day exhibition.
Gurdeep Dhiman, Secretary, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh, Anil Gupta, Head, Department of Applied Art, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar and Mr. Basudeb Biswas, Head, Department of Sculpture graced the occasion with their benign occasion. Skillful works of upcoming artists along with well established professional artists will be showcased in this venture.
The exhibition will remain open for Jalandharites from March 21 to March,24 ,. The Akademi had invited the entries by artists living in Punjab and Chandigarh for competition in professional as well as student categories. In the professional category, 237 artworks were received out of which 41 works were selected and in student, category 19 artworks out of 172 were selected. The exhibition will showcase all mediums and disciplines within the purview of visual and plastic arts such as painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, multi-media, installation and mix-media art. In the professional category, there are three awards of Rs. 50,000 each and in the student category three awards of Rs. 25,000 each.
Manna addressed the gathering and said that such exhibitions proved to be a vital success in promoting the Art and Culture not only of Punjab but of the whole nation and this time we have exhibited artistic works made in all the mediums.
Principal Dr Sucharita shared her views that such events not only prove to be a milestone in the careers of professional artists but also provide a platform to the upcoming artists to exhibit their talents. She added it is an indeed a pleasure to observe the works of these artists.
