MOHALI: Justice Raj Shekhar Attri, a sitting Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has called upon law students to resolve that they fight for social justice and not become mere mercenaries.
Justice Attri, was speaking at the valedictory function of the fourth two-day National Moot Court competition organised by the Rayat Bahra University School of Law here, as Chief Guest.
He lauded the initiative of the Rayat Bahra University in organizing this event every year and said that moot court competitions enhanced the overall mooting and advocacy skills of young professionals.
Justice Arun Monga, another sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who was the Guest of Honour at the valedictory function, counseled participants in the competition to work hard as this was the only key to success in this challenging profession.
More than 34 teams from all over the country participated in the two-day competition which was inaugurated by sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Arun Palli and Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill, another sitting Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural session.
Earlier, on their arrival at the event, the two dignitaries were accorded a warm welcome by Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Chancellor Dr Daljit Singh and Prof (Dr) MS Bains, Dean of the University School of Law.
Meanwhile the overall winner was the team from the University School of Law and Legal Studies in Dwarka, Delhi. The runners up trophy was bagged by the team of the OP Jindal University, Sonepat.
Preeti was adjudged the best moot and best searcher award was bagged by Ayush of the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
Surinder Singh, Legal Remembrancer, was also present at the valedictory function.PS Khurana was also part of the event as jury of appeal.
Dr Sonia Grewal Mahal was the Chief coordinator of the competition, while faculty conveners included Dr Kirat Grewal, Dr Radhika Dev Varma, Dr Jasdeep Kaur, Dr Gurpreet Kaur. The Student Convener was Harlove Singh Rajput, and Student Coordinators’ team comprised of Simurita, Vishn, Abhishek, Deepinder, Shalini, Ashmeet, and Anas.
