4TH National moot court competition gets underway at RBU

MOHALI: More than 34 teams from all over the country are participating in the fourth two-day national Moot Court competition organised by the Rayat Bahra University School of Law which got underway here today.

Sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Arun Palli presided over the inaugural session as Chief Guest and Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill, another sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was the Guest of Honour.

They were accorded a warm welcome by Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Chancellor Dr Daljit Singh and Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Bains Dean of the University School of Law.

Speaking on the occasion Justice Arun Palli emphasized the importance of such competitions in enhancing the overall mooting and advocacy skills of young professionals.

He congratulated the staff and management of the Rayat Bahra University for organizing such a national level event and lauded the multidimensional and phenomenal growth of the Rayat Bahra University.

Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill, who was the guest of honour, while addressing the jam-packed audience, emphasized upon the fact that the lawyers need to own their social responsibility by ensuring social justice in the society. Dr. Sonia Grewal Mahal, Chief-Coordinator, National Moot Court Competition also presided over the session.

The mega event began with the preliminary and quarter-final rounds and the winners in these two strenuous rounds moved on to the semi-final and final rounds which would take place on the concluding day of the event tomorrow.
