Wedding season and the rain of offers

March 16, 2019 02:44 PM

Every year when wedding season arrives, practically every retailer and every online portal is filled with offers, discounts and season sale. We all tend to take advantage of these offers and tend to binge buy stuff which we may really not require for the time being but get a little selfish and shopaholic considering the air of offers. Wedding season brings a mixed bag of offers from Jewellery to clothes, from accessories to travel destinations, from footwear to hotel bookings, from car rentals to wedding planners. It entirely lies upon us to use them to our benefit.

The best part of the wedding season, are the hundreds of models we get to see that are released exclusive for the season. Many retailers release their wedding editions which are way above the regular range offered.Jewellery is no exception, it  occupies a special place in Indian weddings and is indispensible part of every Indian wedding. Jewellers across India launch their wedding collections year on year bringing design innovation to customer’s platter. These signature wedding pieces are an eye treat to watch. If you are not a bride to be or anywhere close to becoming one, it is still worth catching a glimpse of these designs for the sheer luxury that they are.  Example: We get to know latest gold necklace designs during the wedding season as they are one of the most purchased Jewellery item during marriages.

Wedding Packages

The era of the millennials brought a lot of societal changes in terms of thinking, consumptions, manufacturing and services. Weddings are no longer the same like in the olden days, there are multiple service houses that have sprouted which work exclusive for weddings such as photography, makeup artists, wedding caterers, wedding chauffer & travel services, honeymoon packages, wedding Jewellers, wedding decoration services etc. These individual services are packaged by wedding planners to present the wedding couple with tailor made services.

Best Wedding Jewellers

Out of the hundreds of retail Jewellers available, there are few who get categorized for offering exclusivity by way of designs, personalization and for the fact of being customer centric. Here is a sneak peek into one such Jeweller –VaibhavJewellers. As we explore such Jewellers, we have find out that there is an increasing use of various workmanships in bridal wear.

  • Example previously the preference was just the metal like a gold necklace, matching gold earrings and gold bangles. But, in the recent past there is a wave of different workmanships such as the Temple, Antique, Pachi etc.
  • The second trend that is noticed is the different designs that Jewellers launch as a part of wedding are a mélange of workmanships, metal, resplendent use of pearls, gemstones, Navratnas and various other precious and semi precious stones like the Aquamarines, Garnets, Topaz, opal etc.
  • Another trend is occasion based purchasing, a light weight collection for Haldi ceremony, a Rani Haar for Mehandi and more elaborate uncut diamond necklace or Kundan Choker coupled with elegant Haram during the wedding ceremony.
  • Another growing trend amongst the brides is “going minimal”. Some of them prefer very minimalistic designs, 18K light weight Jewellery, reusable bridal wear. When I say reusable bridal wear or minimalistic design, I only meant that these brides look at purchasing designs that offer a two way use for daily wear, occasional wear and office wear as well.

A classic example of the multi use Jewellery items are 18K earrings that can be used as office wear also, diamond Jewellery often offer this flexibility.

Hope you have some insights on when to pick your coveted piece.
