NEW DELHI: Punjab National Bank has received the Vigilance Excellence Award 2016-17. The Award was received by S.K. Nagpal, Chief Vigilance Officer of the Bank, from K V Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner, at the 8th Conclave of Vigilance Officers of the Institute of Public Enterprise(IPE) Hyderabad.
The conclave was was attended by CVOs of Public Sector Enterprises across the country. The Award has been given to the Bank in recognition of, initiating various preventive, participative vigilance and anti corruption measures, adherence of guidelines issued by RBI & CVC from time to time, leveraging software technological developments & cyber security measures and expeditious disposal of complaints and other disciplinary actions.
S K Nagpal, in his presentation, stressed on the use of IT in delivery of public services, which not only enhances efficiency but also reduces subjectivity and discretion in decision making process. He emphasized on proactive preventive vigilance rather than punitive vigilance, ethical value system and good governance. A short clipping of activities at PNB during Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 was also shown at the conclave.
